Announcing new BBDC staff member – Lori MacCallum, Senior Implementation Manager for Diabetes Knowledge Translation
June 4, 2012
We are delighted to announce that Lori MacCallum has joined the BBDC
knowledge translation team as of June 4. Some of you may know Lori
from her previous involvement with the BBDC as a member of the Care and
Education Committee. Lori is
a clinical pharmacist who holds an Assistant Professor appointment in
the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, U of T. Most recently she held
the position of clinical lead of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka
Shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michael’s Hospital, working closely with
Dr. Mike Evans in that capacity since 2009.
She has extensive experience in leading the design, development,
testing and implementation of web-based health education tools for
patients and clinicians and has lead and participated in a number of
practice-based and clinical trial research projects.
She has developed and championed the implementation of programs
designed to enhance the quality of patient care.
Lori will be an important link between the BBDC knowledge translation
program and the Centre for Innovations in Complex Care (CICC) (http://www.uhn.ca/cicc),
a UHN-based organization led by Dr. Dante Morra of the Department of
Medicine. The BBDC and CICC,
together with e-Health Innovations (http://www.ehealthinnovation.org)
and the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute have teamed up to share
expertise in tackling some of the most daunting challenges in diabetes.
Research by the BBDC-led program will lead to innovations to
accelerate and bolster knowledge dissemination from the domain of
research to the domain of practice (by patients, by providers, by policy
makers).
Please join us in welcoming Lori MacCallum in her new role in the BBDC.
