| The Banting and Best Diabetes Centre Approach to the Management of Diabetes Mellitus is a guide to the current concepts and management strategies practiced by health care professionals at the University of Toronto and its affiliate teaching hospitals in the care of individuals with diabetes. It provides an outline of standards of care and special topics in diabetes. Where possible, available evidence is used in these guidelines, however, expert clinical opinion is used to formulate treatment strategies in areas where high level clinical evidence is unavailable. Although not an exhaustive review of the literature, this document is meant to provide practical information to help medical students, residents, physicians, diabetes educators and other health care professionals in the management of individuals with diabetes. link |
