Charles Hollenberg Summer Studentship Program 2010
Weekly Seminar Series

  • Attendance is compulsory for all BBDC summer students. Attendance by other students is welcome.
  • Each weekly seminar should include a 40 minute presentation by the supervisor, followed by a 5 to 10 minute presentation by the summer student which outlines the project and indicates how his/her project fits into the overall goals of the lab.
  • The seminar room is equipped with a projector and PC computer.  Students may bring their presentation on a USB flash memory drive, CD, or laptop.  Presenters who use a MAC should bring their own MAC laptop and VGA adapter cable.
  • In the event of A/V difficulties, please see the Research Information Systems Workroom staff located in room 4-201 or call (416) 581-7589.

Mini-Conference

As part of the summer studentship program, all students are required to give a presentation at the Mini-conference.  Attendance by all students and their supervisors is required.  EACH SUMMER STUDENT MUST SUBMIT A ONE-PAGE ABSTRACT for the Mini-conference program to the Summer Studentship Program Coordinator, Dr. Tony Lam, at tony.lam@uhnres.utoronto.ca  by Thursday, July 29, 2010.  The complete Mini-conference schedule of presentations will be e-mailed to all students and supervisors one week before the conference.

  • Each student will be given 15 minutes. The oral presentation should be 10 to 12 minutes long leaving 2 to 3 minutes for questions.
  • A projector and PC computer will be provided.  Presenters who use a MAC should bring their own MAC laptop and VGA adapter cable.
  • Students should bring their presentation to the conference on a USB flash memory device or CD.
  • Students will be asked to arrive 20 minutes before the start of the conference to load their presentations onto one computer.
