15. Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3)
The assay is a non-competitive assay in which the analyte to be measured is "sandwiched" between two antibodies. The first antibody is immobilized to the inside wall of the tubes. The other antibody is radiolabelled for detection. The analyte present in the patient samples, Standards and Controls is bound by both of the antibodies to form a "sandwich" complex. Unbound materials are removed by decanting and washing the tubes.
