3. Proinsulin

The Human Proinsulin assay is a double antibody radioimmunoassay. It measures total proinsulin in serum or plasma. Crossreactivity is less than 0.1% to insulin and C-peptide. Sensitivity of 2 pmol/L can be achieved using a 200 ml serum sample in a 3-day, disequilibrium assay.

Interassay Coefficient of Variation (CV):

Sample 1 = 7.7% (n=4, mean=4.70, sd=0.36)
Sample 2 = 10.0% (n=4, mean=7.50, sd=0.75)
Sample 3 = 5.0% (n=4, mean=17.80, sd=0.89)
Sample 4 = 1.5% (n=4, mean=40.80, sd=0.61)

Detection Limit:

2 pmol/L
